REVIEW

I love this story for the simple reason that while it focused on Jacqueline's and Lucas's love, it also did not forget about the real world and what monsters hide out there. I really can not express with words how terrific this book was, it captured a part of me that no other book has been able to, because I related to it. Even if you do not think you will be able to, I hope that you can. This book was inspirational not because of the magic between the main characters, but because it showed the real world and that you have to keep on fighting, even when you believe you are inferior or weaker.

An award should be given to the magnificent secondary characters Webber created, the first going to spunky best friend Erin. Erin is a strong and supportive best friend through everything that Jacqueline goes through, she is spunky and has more back bone then most males in the book, bravo! The second award goes to Katie, a young women and sorority president who does the right thing even when it isn't the popular thing to do. Both females deserve a big round of applause, you go girls!

Tammara Webber brought light to an issue many people refuse to speak about, an issue that is very sensitive and rarely spoken about. Webber approached rape with a realistic perspective, and though I have read few books that include it, of those that I have read, I did not believe them. Webber prodded the sensitive topic so sensibly and with delicacy, more books should be written like this.

There were a few lessons in this book that I found to be incredibly important. Primarily the first lesson, for many people the idea of rape is just that, an idea, a thought that is brought up in movies, books, television shows, something that could never happen to them, but for many people it is a reality. Many have been forced up or have had a friend that has been raped, and to all those people, it is not your fault, it is the assailant. Another lesson is the concept of following your dreams might mean having to part with your loved ones to accomplish whatever it is you seek, and you shouldn't give up your dreams just to be near someone, if it's meant to be, it will work out. Which  is something that is very well portrayed in this story. In short the three most important were, one, it is not your fault, two, follow your dreams, three, things will work out.

This book is for those that loved Beautiful Disaster but want a more realistic story, this book delivers it. This was much more than a romance between two people finding each other who share traumatic pasts. This is a life lesson in the form of 310 pages, a lesson every person should be taught.
